GUGU PLC is a nationwide importer, distributor, and installation service provider of solar energy products and systems in Ethiopia. We are seeking a competent and results-oriented Civil Engineer to support solar project planning, tender preparation, site assessment, and implementation.

Job Purpose

To provide civil engineering support for solar energy projects, including interpreting engineering drawings, preparing bills of quantities, supporting tender submissions, assessing installation sites, and coordinating civil works.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret architectural, structural, and civil engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Support preparation of technical tenders, bills of quantities (BOQs), quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.
• Conduct site assessments for rooftop and ground-mounted solar installations, equipment foundations, and related civil works.
• Identify site preparation, structural, access, and foundation requirements.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure effective project implementation.
• Monitor civil works quality, progress, safety, and compliance with approved designs.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, drawings, reports, and tender records.
• Support preparation of project schedules, material requirements, and implementation reports.

Job Description

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, managing, and supervising the implementation of the Kombolcha Airport construction project to ensure completion within the approved schedule, budget, quality standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.

The successful candidate will provide overall technical and managerial leadership, coordinate project stakeholders, supervise construction activities, and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable aviation and construction standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall implementation of the Kombolcha Airport project from commencement through completion and handover.
• Prepare and monitor project work plans, construction schedules, resource plans, and budgets.
• Coordinate airport construction activities, including terminal buildings, airfield infrastructure, pavement works, drainage, utilities, and associated facilities, as applicable to the contract.
• Monitor project progress against the approved programme and take corrective action when delays occur.
• Coordinate with the client, consultant, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant government and aviation authorities.
• Ensure compliance with approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, quality assurance procedures, and contractual requirements.
• Manage project costs, cash flow, resource allocation, procurement schedules, and variation orders.
• Administer construction contracts and manage claims, risks, and contractual correspondence in accordance with the applicable contract conditions.
• Enforce occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and airport operational safety requirements.
• Prepare and submit regular progress reports, meeting minutes, risk registers, and project performance reports.
• Lead, supervise, and motivate the project team to achieve project objectives.
• Ensure proper testing, commissioning, documentation, and final handover of completed works.

Job Summary

• Organize and manage skilled and unskilled laborers and subcontractors.

• Monitor work progress, workmanship, material utilization, and productivity.
• Coordinate masonry, concrete, plastering, finishing, drainage, fencing, paving, and other external site works.
