Purpose of the Job
The purpose of the job is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems used in glass bottle production. The role ensures continuous and safe operation of critical electrical machinery and systems by applying industry best practices and technical expertise. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, leadership capabilities, and adherence to safety regulations.
Major duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on glass-forming machines, control panels, feeders, and high-voltage systems to minimize downtime.
- Diagnoses electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing tools and repairs and replace faulty wiring, switches, motors, and electrical components to maintain production efficiency.
- Conducts routine inspections and testing of automation equipment and diagnoses and resolves issues related to SCADA, PLCs, sensors, HMIs, and networked systems ensuring reliability.
- Installs new electrical systems, including wiring and control systems, ensuring adherence to specifications and upgrades obsolete electrical systems to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
- Programs and maintain PLC systems (Siemens) to optimize automation processes in glass bottle production.
- Configures motor control centers and ensure proper functioning of variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Tracks performance of electrical systems and report findings to the maintenance supervisor and maintains detailed logs of troubleshooting activities, repairs, and installations.
- Analyzes data from electrical testing tools and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and ensures documentation of safety procedures, risk assessments, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Provide guidance and supervision to junior electricians and technicians, ensuring compliance with best practices.
- Conduct technical training for junior team members on electrical troubleshooting, safety protocols, and equipment handling.
- Collaborates with the production team to align maintenance schedules with production demands and works closely with maintenance, production, and safety teams to ensure alignment with operational goals.
- Identifies and mitigate electrical hazards, ensuring adherence to industrial safety standards and conducts safety drills and ensure usage of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling high-voltage systems.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
